Privacy policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Joshua Perets ("Joshua Perets", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It applies to joshuaperets.com, our stores, our emails and text messages, our returns portal, our profile page and our social media accounts.
"Personal information" means any information about you that can identify you, directly or indirectly, such as your name, email address, phone number or order history.
Our Privacy Officer
Questions, requests or complaints about your personal information go to our Privacy Officer:
Email: privacy@joshuaperets.com
Mail: Joshua Perets, Attn: Privacy Officer, 1881, boulevard Saint-Régis, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec H9B 2M9
What we collect and where it comes from
Most of what we collect, you give us directly: when you order, create an account or profile, subscribe, contact us, return an item, enter a contest or apply for a job, online or in one of our stores.
- Contact details, such as your name, email, phone number and addresses.
- Account and profile information, including the details you choose to add, such as a birthday.
- Purchases, returns and exchanges, online and in store. Payments are handled by our payment providers; we don't store full card numbers.
- Your messages to us and your marketing preferences.
- How you use our site and emails: pages and products viewed, cart activity, device and browser information, IP address and approximate location, and whether you open our emails. This is collected with cookies, pixels and similar tools, including tools that record how visitors move through our site (see "Cookies and tracking technologies").
- Information from our partners: our online store and checkout platform (Shopify), payment providers, shipping carriers, advertising platforms and social media, for example a payment confirmation, a tracking update or a report on how our ads perform.
In our stores, sharing your contact details with our team is optional, for example to receive your receipt by email, look up your account or make a return. If you share your phone number or email in store, we may contact you about your account or profile, and about offers if you agreed to receive them. Our stores use security cameras for safety and loss prevention.
How we use it
- To process, ship and deliver your orders, returns and exchanges.
- To manage your account and profile.
- To answer your questions and provide customer service.
- To send you emails and text messages you subscribed to, including cart reminders and offers.
- To measure how well our ads work and show you more relevant ads (see "Advertising and measurement").
- To run contests and review job applications.
- To understand how our site and stores are used, and to improve them.
- To prevent fraud, protect our customers, staff and stores, and meet our legal obligations.
Your consent
We collect and use your personal information with your consent, or as the law allows. You may give your consent in different ways, for example by creating an account, subscribing, completing a form or sharing your information with us online or in store. Some uses come with the service you ask for: for example, we need your address to deliver your order.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing privacy@joshuaperets.com, by unsubscribing, or by replying STOP to a text. If you withdraw consent we need to complete an order, we may not be able to complete it.
Advertising and measurement
We work with advertising platforms, including Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), Google and TikTok. Their pixels and cookies on our site tell us when someone who saw or clicked one of our ads visits our site or buys something.
To measure our ads, we may also share information about purchases made online and in our stores with these platforms, such as the date, amount and store, along with your email address or phone number. Your email and phone number are converted into coded identifiers (hashed) before they are sent. The platforms use them to match the purchase to their own users and report back to us in aggregate. We don't sell your personal information.
To ask us not to share your in-store purchases for advertising, email privacy@joshuaperets.com. You can also manage the ads you see in your settings on each platform.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use three kinds of cookies and similar tools:
- Essential: make the site work, such as your cart, checkout, login and language.
- Analytics: show us how the site is used, so we can improve it (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity).
- Advertising: measure our ads and show you relevant ads on other sites and apps (Meta, Google, TikTok).
Analytics and advertising tools can be used to recognize your device, estimate your general location and build a profile of your interests. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and turn off ad personalization in your settings on each platform. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
The Joshua Perets website uses cookies to help keep track of items you put into your shopping cart, including when you have abandoned your cart. This information determines when to send cart reminder messages via SMS.
The above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Emails and text messages
We send marketing emails and text messages only to people who subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any email, or by replying STOP (or ARRET) to any text. We will still send messages about your orders, returns and account.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who run parts of our business for us, such as our online store and checkout (Shopify), email and text messaging, payment processing, shipping carriers, our returns portal, customer service tools, and site analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity). They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
- Advertising platforms, as described in "Advertising and measurement".
- Our affiliates, the companies that operate our stores and online business, which must respect this policy.
- A buyer or successor, if our business or part of it is sold, merged or reorganized. We will let you know before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- Authorities and others, when required: to comply with the law or a court order, to protect our rights or property, to prevent or investigate fraud or wrongdoing, or to protect the safety of our customers, staff or the public.
- Anyone else, with your consent.
Phone numbers and consent collected through our text message program are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes.
When you pay with Shop Pay, PayPal or another payment option, that provider also handles your information under its own privacy policy.
Contests, giveaways and social media
When we run contests or giveaways, each one has its own official rules. We use entrants' information to run the contest and contact winners, and may publish winners' names or social media handles as the rules describe. If you tag or mention us on social media, we may repost your content and credit you; you can ask us to remove it at any time.
Job applications
If you apply for a job, by email or in one of our stores, we use your CV and the information you give us only to assess your application. If a role requires it, we may check your references or do a background check, only with your consent. If you're not hired, we keep your application for up to 12 months in case another role opens, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
Information stored outside Quebec
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Quebec, including in other provinces, the United States and other countries. Before we share information outside Quebec, we assess whether it will be properly protected, and we use agreements that require our providers to protect it. Information held in another country may be accessible to that country's courts and authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. For example, order and payment records are kept for at least six years for tax purposes, marketing preferences until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and job applications for up to 12 months. Security camera footage is kept for a limited time and then recorded over, unless it's needed for an incident. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
We may use anonymous or aggregated information, such as sales by store, that can no longer identify you.
How we protect it
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, and we limit access to the people who need it. No system is completely secure. If an incident involving your personal information presents a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as the law requires.
Keeping your information accurate
Please keep your account details up to date. You can update most of them in your account, or ask us to correct them.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that's wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information, or stop using it for a purpose such as marketing or advertising;
- give you the information you provided to us in a commonly used format, or send it to someone you choose.
Email privacy@joshuaperets.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We reply within 30 days. Requests are free, unless a copy requires reasonable transcription or delivery costs, which we would tell you about first. If we can't fulfil a request, for example because the law requires us to keep certain records, we will tell you why. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Children
We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 without the consent of their parent or guardian. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 14 without consent, we delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it. Parents or guardians can contact our Privacy Officer.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other sites, apps and social networks. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them, and we're not responsible for their practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will let you know on our site or by email before they take effect.
